Please Pardon the Dust

I decided to take advantage of some open time I had this weekend and upgrade my WordPress installation to the latest version that was just released. The update went smoothly but I realized that the theme I customized my design from is really incompatible now. So I’ll be using Hemmingway until I can find a replacement for my older theme.

On the plus side, the site should feel a bit snappier since the older theme tended to bog down the site some.

Update: I found that a newer version of the older theme will work with the latest version of WordPress. So I’ve switched to this. My constant search for a better theme continues.

Updates complete

Since we were treated to minor updates to Leopard (10.5.1) and Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1), I thought I’d join in the spirit and update the site. The site is now running the latest versions of WordPress and K2. Hopefully things will feel a bit snappier.

To all good things?

So this site is coming up on two years now and as many of you may have noticed in the past year, I’m not nearly posting the level of content as I once was. My job keeps me very busy and I hardly have time to relax, let alone blog about all things creative.

I told myself, I’d give the blog the two years and see where it is then. So if there are any of you out there that would like to see this blog continue, now is the time to tell me. I’m seriously thinking of pulling the plug on it in the next month or so.

Please let me know what you think.

Site Tweaks for Advertising

So it has been just shy of a year since Creative Toolbox came to be. In some ways I’m pleasantly surprised at how well the site worked out and in others, well, not so much. I have to admit that I’m happier with the level of popularity of the site compared to the actual companion book it was meant to compliment.

Please Excuse the Dust

You may have notice the site hasn’t been looking quite right in the past week or so. I’ve decided to do some upgrading of the underlying theme that helps drive the site. In doing this, you’ll notice new features have arrived on the scene but it also means I have created a bit more CSS work for myself. So please pardon the dust until I get around to fixing up some of the CSS.

IE Windows visitors, please excuse the mess

Well, I just noticed today that the K2 theme I used as a basis for the site’s theme breaks spectacularly in IE6 Windows. I’m going to attempt to come up with a theme that plays well with all the popular browsers. So please excuse the mess and stay tuned.

Update: After spending an hour or so looking for another decent theme as a basis, I gave up and checked if there was an update to the K2 theme beta. Indeed there was and it appears to remedy the issues (and I must admit, I like a lot of the functionality baked into K2). I have this queued up to move into the site but I must apply some local tweaks to some files before I do so. Hopefully, it’s not these tweaks that are causing the falling down sidebar issue. IE’s failure to render transparent PNGs still plagues the icons and navigation. But I’m looking into this as well.

New, tweaked theme has been transplanted over. IE6 Windows users should now see the site closer to how it’s intended to be presented. Although, you should really get Firefox.
