Adobe has posted free public betas of Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and Soundbooth on Adobe Labs. All three betas sport new user interfaces that appear like the next evolution of the Creative Suite UI from CS3. These betas will work for up to two days if you don’t have a valid CS3 serial number. Adobe Ships Creative Suite 2.3. Now includes Dreamweaver 8 and the only Universal application in the suite, Acrobat Professional 8. (Via MacNN.)

Adobe Debuts Creative Suite Premium 2.3

Adobe Debuts Creative Suite Premium 2.3. This is just a bundle upgrade. Acrobat gets upgraded to 8 and Dreamweaver 8 is now included along with GoLive. Two web design applications in one bundle — go figure.

Turns out that two bits of information are coming out that weren’t quite clear at first. Acrobat 8 is noted as being Universal and that with the introduction of Dreamweaver 8, this marks the end of GoLive being bundled in the suite. But from all I see, GoLive is still included in CS2.3 along with Dreamweaver. I guess you can expect CS3 not to include GoLive anymore.

And no, everything but Acrobat is still non-Universal. (Via MacNN.)

The unified CSS panel allows you to select an element and see exactly what style rules are being applied to it — even from other styles. However, helpful CSS features are lurking about in the Code view as well.

When editing your code, be it HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc., you can select a block of code and then have Dreamweaver quickly wrap it in comments via the (right-click) contextual menu. This feature has been around for a couple of versions in Dreamweaver. However, Dreamweaver 8 includes some nice additions to this menu: CSS comments and comment hacks. This is really handy when troubleshooting your CSS or applying filters for certain browsers.
