Adobe apps and Leopard are A-OK (mostly)
Adobe has posted a FAQ of what apps work fine on Leopard. John Nack has a link to it in his post ehre: Adobe apps on Leopard: What you need to know. Bottomline is that almost all of the apps in CS3 (Design Premium and Web Premium) work fine except for Acrobat. If you have the Production Suite, a lot of apps are incompatible with Leopard. You’ll have to wait for the late November update to remedy the issues. This is a bit strange since most of these apps were developed later and most of them only work on Intel-based Macs, but oh well what do I know.
Lightroom and Aperture both seem to have their share of problems with Leopard as well. So be sure to check out what you can do to fix these problems. Aperture seems to be incompatible with Time Machine. So you just have to disable Time Machine, which is sad since it’s the key new feature of Leopard.
This is probably the first Mac OS upgrade in a very long time that I haven’t installed on one of my systems just days after it was released. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great upgrade. But I decided when the shiny new iMacs were release a couple of months ago that I would wait until Leopard came out before trading up to one. And my work system, is an original black MacBook that is also poised to get replaced if Apple ever gets around to releasing that rumored super slim MacBook Pro. One can dream right? Oh, how I miss the 12″ PowerBook. So eventually Leopard will find its way on one of my systems or show up on a new system. But seeing that there does seem to be some glitches to be ironed out and I waited this long on the upgrade. A couple more weeks doesn’t seem so bad. Tiger is so mature as it is, it’s tough to see the burning need to upgrade just yet. I think my favorite feature will be the Notes in Mail since I’m probably one of the few people who actually doesn’t mind using Mail. And I do email notes to myself from time to time.
What about you? What’s your upgrade plan?
