Photoshop Layer Comps to an Acrobat Presentation

Layer Comps palettePhotoshop’s Layer Comps come in handy when you want to explore different creative avenues in your design. Nothing beats being able to flip between several comps within the same document so that you, your colleague, or client can review. But what if it’s not possible to get everyone huddled around your screen? Not a problem. Just save your set of layer comps as an Acrobat PDF presentation and everyone’s comments can be minutes away.

Select the Layer Comps to PDF script located in the Scripts menu under the main File menu. A dialog asks you to choose a destination for the resulting Acrobat file. If you want to be selective about which layer comps go into the PDF, be sure to select the comps you want first in the Layer Comps palette and then check the Selected Layer Comps Only option in this dialog. Decide whether you want to adjust the couple of slide show options available to you and then click Run. Once Photoshop has flattened and packaged up all your layer comps, Acrobat will launch and open the presentation in full screen mode for you to preview. Now just send this PDF presentation out for feedback and get back to appreciating your personal space.

If you’re not happy with the presentation’s default page transition, change it within Acrobat Pro. Select Document > Pages > Set Page Transition… and choose from 50 different transitions.
