Fastest Way to Convert a Background Layer in Photoshop
This mini-tip is from the incredibly informative Matt Kloskowski of Photoshop TV. The tip actually comes from watching his Adobe Photoshop Killer Tips video podcast. These are highly accessible, two minute segments in which Matt passes on helpfui tips that may be new to you. I highly recommend subscribing to it.
To quickly convert the Background layer to a standard layer in which you can actually work with, hold down Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) and double-click on the Background layer thumbnail icon or layer name in the Layers palette. There are other ways to go about this but this is by far the fastest that I’ve made aware of.
