30 Years of Apple. A nicely produced video of Apple and the Mac commercial spots (and one spoof) through the years. Yes, thank you Steve, both of you. (Via digg toplinks.)

Apply Paragraph Styles to ”Selected” Text Frames in InDesign

I’m pretty sure this feature popped up in InDesign CS2 with the inclusion of object styles and it’s ability to apply paragraph styles along with the object style. It’s now possible to apply a paragraph style to a selected text frame without having to switch to the Type tool and clicking into the text itself. You can just select it with the Select tool and then click a style in the Paragraph Styles palette to apply it to all the paragraphs found within that frame. That’s a rather nice timesaver to know about.

Lightroom to Go Intel, CS[3] to Follow

Macworld is reporting that Adobe is planning on releasing an Intel-ready version of Lightroom. However, Macworld has misinterpreted the remark of Adobe commitment to bring CS to Intel in the future in their article title of “Adobe Lightroom going Intel; CS2 coming”. It’s obvious after reading the article that Adobe is talking about future releases of CS, not the current release of CS2:

Adobe is excited about Apple’s move to the Intel platform. Adobe was one of the first companies that committed to develop software for the new platform, with future versions of Adobe Creative Suite supporting both PowerPC- and Intel-based systems.

[Update: Jim has updated the article's title to "…Creative Suite coming".]

Use a Web Receipts Folder in Tiger

Here’s something I used to do in a manual fashion but was happy to finally think of using the automated feature found in Tiger. I’m sure I picked up on this nugget of information via Macworld or somewhere along those lines, but I felt it was worthwhile mentioning again. Tiger makes it easy to automate the process of saving your web receipts.

IE Windows visitors, please excuse the mess

Well, I just noticed today that the K2 theme I used as a basis for the site’s theme breaks spectacularly in IE6 Windows. I’m going to attempt to come up with a theme that plays well with all the popular browsers. So please excuse the mess and stay tuned.

Update: After spending an hour or so looking for another decent theme as a basis, I gave up and checked if there was an update to the K2 theme beta. Indeed there was and it appears to remedy the issues (and I must admit, I like a lot of the functionality baked into K2). I have this queued up to move into the site but I must apply some local tweaks to some files before I do so. Hopefully, it’s not these tweaks that are causing the falling down sidebar issue. IE’s failure to render transparent PNGs still plagues the icons and navigation. But I’m looking into this as well.

New, tweaked theme has been transplanted over. IE6 Windows users should now see the site closer to how it’s intended to be presented. Although, you should really get Firefox.
